Default Factory Warranty

What mods don't mess up your warranty?

Would an exhaust affect it? How about headers?

Pretty much anything can void your warranty. If you change something on the vehicle, the dealership can find a reason to void your warranty or part of it.

establish a good relationship with your dealer and hopefully the parts advisor/manager are competent enough to understand an exhuast wont void your warrenty, nor the headers. The headers may void the cat-coverter warrenty.

It's a bonus to work for one like I do, but that doesn't stop them from giving me hell about the mods.

sometimes it comes down to the technician who looks at the car. If the tech can find a reason why it shouldn't be warranty then he will try to make it not. But the manager can warranty anything. even if it is out of warranty. "Goodwill" its called

I personally thought it ws funny whena driver of an s2000 came in running on three cylinders because he, at high speeds missed his downshift from 5th to 4th and hit 2nd. obviously the guy who owned the car had over reved his engine(pulled dtc's) and chopped a piston and denting the others.

we did it under warranty.

Befroe at honda I was always replacing accord v6 trannies, now at acura 3.2 TL trannies some with bald tires, 18" wheels, intakes, stuff like that

I would say your motor is covered as long as you didn't open it up
you tranny is covered as long as you have a stock clutch and its not down to the rivits. intakes and exhausts are ok, and aftermarket suspension obviously voids your suspension warranty, maybe big wheels too

All true! What part of your factory warranty are you questioning? If they can relate your problem to an after market part you put on it - they more then likely won't cover it.

Well, I think that I should be able to establish a decent relationship with the dealership. I already have one with the finance department since I work for a lender and the finance guys have to deal with me all the time.

The things that I'm most wondering about are headers and exhaust. Maybe gears... but I know that's probably a no-no when coverage is concerned so I may wait on that.

The header since it's in front of the cat will

The exhaust won't

The gears will ( since it's just a diffferent gear size they won't know unless you tell them )

Remeber parts will only void the area used in not the whole car

All of you guys should be members of SEMA

this is the exact kind of thing they lobby for and protect the consimer against
