DC2 Hood Pin Locations (No good topic in search)
i know there are 12381927391287318273 topics on Hood Pins, but no really good one with pics etc on DC2 hood pin locations. I hate hood pins but I rather put them on and save my ViS C/F hood (which prob will never fly off without the pins; but better safe then sorry)
I had two hoods before on my civic and accord and I had them mounted like this on my civic / \ and on the accord I had it mounted like this | | I have the latch hood pins again, and I can’t decide where to mount them on my DC2. I’m going to mount them right above the headlight but can’t decide on what angel to do it on... Any input would be great; pix would be even better. ... | |, - -, \ /, / \ …
thnx in advance

are there any other choices beside hood pins to save your hood from flying off? I just hate the look of them but I would rather have them then a broken windshield and no hood.

Zues fasteners are the only other choice I can think of. They do require more work due to the fact that you have to weld in the plate. When installed the look is cleaner and in a sense more aerodynamic due to the flat plate surface instead of the bolt thru the hood and pin slider like sparco. Papadakis has zues fastners on the drag civic for hood and fenders.
I have locking pins. No obtrusive levers, sliders.. Just a round lock, like on the front of a vending machine, that sits flat on the hood. I painted the plates black to match my c/f hood. I think they look nice and stealth. Plus, they add a level of protection against my engine getting jacked (although c/f breaks easily with a crow bar

nice DC2 night, and no the carbon fiber hoods arnt really likely to fly open, at least not good brand ones like ViS or Fiber Images, But hoodpins are 100% full proof to stop it from happening if it DOES, i dont know about you but i rather have the peace of mind that on the highway nothing is going to come flying up and dent everything and/or make me get into an accident. think about it, i rather bite the bullet and put 20dolla pins on my hood then have a chance to do some major damage IF anything did happen.

that's EXACTLY what I'm planning on doing. The locks got here friday. I thought about the Zues fasteners myself and talked to a local place about installing them since I've never delt with them before and he said they were a pain to put in. So I went the lock route, better security anyways

my friends friend (who i dont know) bought a cf hood for his car and it flew open on the highway (not sure what company the hood was either) but it ended up cracking his whole front winshield

They can do more damage then that. Some people get the roof right around the A-pillers damaged costing them a chit load to repair.

All of our hoodpins are mounted straight up-down in pull-up configuration (in retrospect, that's not the most practical way to do it). I wanted to do pull-down, but the curvature of the hood won't allow for that in that location. The next best option is probably to pull-inwards to make it easy to unlatch them without too much moving or allowing the pins to fall back down and catch on the pin.

i like the way it looks stright up and down, i think it flows with the car well. i think your right about haveing the pins pull inwards for the best use but i think it effects the flow of the car and looks weird. i think i will mont them up and down. ill post pics on tues or wends, when i get around to putting them on.
