quick question.. i have a VX.. the 5 wire.. ive searched and found out its one of those goodie 5 wire OE wideband mo fo's..
so.. my question in getting good air/fuel readings.. can i just hook a Autometer or ect. gauges to the O2 pin on the ECU and get a good O2 reading? or is it alittle more involved than that?

well, i know my ECU.. the stock VX ECU reconizes the wideband or whatever.. so in other words, you try and put my O2 in a 4 wire O2's place.. it won't do jack ****.. ( ECU tech inside )
so in efforts to get a good air/fuel ratio.. could i slap a gauge on my O2 pin, and be in good shape.. easy enough..?

No you can't. Simply put, the voltage signal from the 5-wire sensor is different from the 4-wire.
You need a 'black box' unit to be able to get anything useful out of it. If you can't use it properly, sell it, it will be of no use to you.
For info, look here:

i dont' have anything yet.. other than a stock VX..
im wondering if i can put a A/F meter on my O2.. and it would be more valueable than the 4 wire readings?

all civic VX's are the only hondas that came with them as far as i've ever heard. i don't know what years the VX's were made though...

this is the 'black box' you would need to drive the 5 wire O2 that you have. It's pretty easy to build and it costs like $30 not including some type of voltage display (multimeter works fine). mcmaster.com has LED voltage dispays that will be accurate enough to use as a display for this, like $90 assembled I beleive.

Is DIY-WB even in business any more, all there pages were last update many years ago. About a month ago I attempted emailing every address on those pages and I didn't get a reply from any.
I bought the PCB and parts kit 2 months ago. took a couple weeks to ship but no real problems. you just need to e-mail that Jergen hartwig (sp?) guy, that's the only contact you would need to do this.
this is his e-mail....wbparts@midsouth.rr.com

damn man..
im not sientist.. but how the hell do you understand that ****? i dont' get it.. so the box you need.. but can you use the box at hte same time, the ECU is using that same O2? i wonder if that would conflict?
would i only need this box (controller) and a display for this to work?
