Default Q: Just ready to do first ATF change TODAY - but need help, being cautious ...

94 Accord Ex
Auto trans.
V-tec, 4
160K

1. Do I need a square plug socket?
2. Millimeter size?
Sorry, I'm not near the car. (Haynes manual picture looks that way) ...

3. And, do I need just 2.5 quarts or do I need more? Haynes manual says 2.5 but Honda tech says they always put about 3 to 4 quarts (I only bought 3 Qts today), do I need a 4th one? ...

4. And, where do I want the level on the stick, at the top of the crosshatch or at the top of the smooth area where it flanges out?

5. Retorque the drain bolt to 36 ft lbs, correct?

Anything else?

thank you,
diyer

Just use your ratchet wrench without the socket to removal the plug. It is sqare.

use a 3/8 ratchet and that fits the plug. put in 3 qts of ATF and that will be enough. u may be above the line but by just a little. 4 qts would be too much

you are probably gonna need a breaker bar or cheaters bar to get it loose. i had to use a breaker bar on mine. just put about 2 & 3/4 quarts in there and you should be fine.

be very careful not to overfill. get it to the middle of the crosshatch and then start and work the gears. turn it back off and check and add a little if necessary. if you get too much in there you can damage your tranny.

the tranny should be drained, then refilled with about 2.5 qts
then start the car and let it warm up. run the car through all the gears but dont drive it anywhere just move the shifter around a bunch. then check you level it should be about in the middle of the crosshatch area. if it needs more, add.
