Vtec studders around 40 + mph?
when im going like 40ish vtec seems to kick in then go away and studder
this happened after i got new spark plugs and timing belt
and ideas? vtec hits fine in the lower gears. I have my ABS unplugged but other than that i cant think of anything wrong with my car. Oh its a b16 tranny with a 3 puck clutch
did you check your oil? go do that right now. vtec is regulated by oil pressure (right?) it'll engage and disengage a lot if you're low/empty on oil.
ive only had my car for like a week and a half im unfamiliar with vtec.. so its not supposed to kick in at higher speeds im assuming... but still it feels like its being limited at high mphs like something is studdering
vtec on a stock gsr should engage at 5400 (i know i'm wrong, i always am on this, sorry guys, someone correct em
) and only when you're on wide open throttle or close to... so if you're cruising at 40 mph in 5th gear at 2300 rpm or whatever the hell it's at, your vtec sure as hell shouldn't be engaging

VTEC is a change in the cam lobe that is used to open and close the valves once it engages (not sure of RPM stock...but I have mine set to 4700RPM,) it doesn't disengage until its lower than the engage point I believe its 200 RPM less than the engaement point. Oil pressure is a know issue withe VTEC engagement but you already checked that, and CEL codes?
Anyhoo... I think u might want to check the plugs make sure they are torqued down correctly, also check the wires make sure nothing there is loose.

No CEL codes.... it has no problem at all in lower gears kicking in so i dont know... its like vtec wants to kick in and it does then u go higher rpms and it goes away

I would check to make sure the VTEC solenoid is properly functioning. It could be that it needs cleaning. Also, get ahold of an oil pressure gauge and check your oil pressure, this could explain part of your problem.
that'll do it.. VTEC engages when the engine temperature is right, when the oil is full and when there is proper oil pressure. If you have low pressure, it won't engage properly.
