Default Weight reduction?

I was thinking about trying to reduce some of the weight in my Rex today and I thought I should ask you guys.

Question number 1: About how much weight do you think I could shed by removing the rear storage compartments, carpet (past passenger compartment), Spare tire...etc. Its a lengthy list, but I figure you guys know what I'm talking about.

Question number 2: If I did remove the aforementioned objects would it have an adverse affect on handling? I.E., would it make the rear end too light?

Oh yeah, one more thing. The previous owner of my car put in a JDM ZC SOHC engine. I've been looking for parts that would be possibly compatible with this particular engine, but have yet to find anything. If you guys could link or refer me to someone your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much,
Chris

well the major things i would do do lighten up the rex would be
- get a smaller battery and put it in the rear
-take out jack and spare tire
- gut out ur ac system
-get all teh sound deadening material out
that should be plenty of weight saved. an about the sohc zc, every part is pretty much indentical to a d16a6 i believe.

If you want to lose weight removing flimsy plastic will not be worth it.
All the plastic in the car isnt 100 pounds.
you really wanna lose weight loose
AC
heat
atleast 2 speakers
get non reclinable light weight seats(Only jackasses strip there interior and leave porky stockers)
sunroof plug if you have one
battery
carbon hood
lexan windows
remove spare tire and jack
all sound deadning.
And then put all the light weight plastic back in so it "looks stock"
And please make some real power before you gut your car.

I have the *** end of my rex gutted and it didn't seem to make that much of a difference, however, it is nice not listening to all that junk rattling around back there. When I weighed the car with full interior and my sub and amp it was 2140 with about a half tank of fuel...I need to go and weigh it again just for curiousity's sake. I auto cross my rex and the handling was not adversly affected...if anyting the car is better because the *** end wants to kick out a bit more at corner entry which helps the car turn, not to mention makes it more fun to drive!
