Stripping sound deadning, what to do about seam sealer?

do I leave it or strip it off? It looks real nasty because the asphalt goo is still sticking to it.

You can remove it. I've seen it removed and the guy didn't seem to have any problems.

He used dry ice and a putty knife to get rid of it all.
