Default PS removed

I removed ps today.Because i like the way the feeling of driving my crx feels.I did notice a little power difference. It handles much better on the highway and higher speeds too.I think its a good free mod and prolly gave me 3 hp or so.Basically what a intake would do.Just letting anyone who is intrested too do it because you barely notice the difference.Well standing still its harder but going like 1 mph then turning its nothing

Glad you enjoy it also. I did it on mine a little over a year ago. Also switch crank pulleys.

do a search on the CTR pulley. It does not have a harmonic balancer....Your best bet is to have your oem pulley machined down

My CTR pulley is an OEM Honda part. It does have what is referred to as the "harmonic balancer". All it is is a rubber grommet-like ring on it. It absorbs some vibrations. It's 100% identical to my OEM pulley, minus the A/C and P/S.

The weight of the OEM pulley is approx. 11 lbs and this one is about 1.3.

Did you actually remove the whole PS system and do the loop-back trick for the PS line connections on the rack? I have removed only the belt before and I didn't like it at all, steering felt VERY heavy most of the time. At slow speeds it was much harder to turn than a car w/ a manual rack because all that fluid and pressure was still in there and I had to fight it. I hope you did it the right way.

Regardless of whatever power gain there is, my car just felt a lot better during hard driving after I removed power steering.

no i just removed the belt. And for you people thinking its stupid, you pay 100-300 dollars too get the same results from a intake or header. Its free and i prefer the stiff feeling,i guess if your a wimp and not concerned about getting every last bit of power then its not good. But for a free mods along with weight reduction, they are excellent! Also car is so much better handling at higher speeds.

You'll find the steering feel to be much easier with the entire assembly removed, or at least disconnected.

yes you DO feel the road more BUT, it still is a gay way to gain TQ not HP. and my SR intake caost me $50 not 100-300. if your gonna be that cheap about upgrading your car and getting the little bit more power ahy do you even have a teg?

WTF did you say???Hey kendall what exactly do i have too remove?I think its fairly easy already. Not like power steering but still. And yes too the moron who bought the intake for 50...GOOD FOR YOU,but theres tons of people who will pay 100-200 for an aem.Not too mention 300 for dc headers which prolly give you the same amount of power as removing the belt. Also if you want too run the ctr pulley you need too remove it.

You need to remove the reservoir, power steering pump, pump mounting brackets, main line, return line, and the cooling line that bolts to the front of the A/C condenser. Everything is fairly straightforward, Someone with no mechanical skill could get it done in an afternoon.

I should note that it takes time to get used to. The only aspects of the handling it will effect are driver input and driver feedback.

You can if you want to. It's primarily to keep dirt out of the steering rack. Get ahold of Padawan and tell him you're interested. I had his kit on my car until it was accidentally destroyed during an engine swap.

If you do that, then you get air in the system along with the fluid. The proper way is to loop it to a T fitting that goes up to a reservoir to keep a constant supply of fluid and keep air in the system.

No, I haven't heard of any A/C removal kits. It only took me half an hour to remove the entire A/C, though some of the lines are probably not reusable.
