wut do yall think about b16a1 bored and sleeved cylinders to 86 mm forged rod and pistons and a b17a crank. 12.5:1 cr 1.68:1 r/s

yeah im planin on droping it in a 89-91 hb si. iv been lookin into it alot cuz i was 1st planign on goin ls-vtec but then kinda did more research and stumbled upon a few better combos.

It works well. The B17 was a fine motor. There's an article around here on this topic, though it sounds as though you've located it or a similar one.

I dunno though I kind of think for the money it'd be better to go with a b18c swap, but the b17 can be very competitive with enough time & money.

i just went to that honda style page thats kinda funny, i didnt go there specificly but it is damn near *egg-zakly* the same as.... damn i cant find the page, but thats kinda funny, thanks for ur imput though.

Yup B16s are relatively cheap. There's alot of work and money that go into making a B16a or B17 competitive with a B18c though.

That's why we're all here. Well mostly. I have nothing against the B17 or even the B16a, I just think if you're going to spend all that time and money then the B18c will leave you more options. Sure the startup cost of aquiring a b18c is somewhat higher than that of the b16, but after that the aftermarket parts are roughly the same and with the same $$$ spent on improving both, the b18c is likely to be more potent at the end of the day.

yeah but the whole type r thing is like blah, id rather get the respect that i built a b16 and eat "dem R's" alive ya know thats all i want... for now maybe when i get 5 g's ill get our beloved b18 or ls-vtec, which i would much rather go than type R
