Default full throttle shift

how many of you guys do a full throttle shift (not letting off the gas at all)? I have two questions about it.

1. What stops the tranny from grinding?
2. How much times does it take off?

I heard this is really good, because it keeps the turbo spooled. Also i heard its better to do it with a MSD 2 step. I have hondata where the fuel is set to cut off at 7200, but i was told this is not as good as the msd.

that is called "power shifting and yes i do it, if you are quick enough there will be no grind and it can take off up to a tenth of a sec per shift

power shifting is the way to go...you've just got to practise a lot to get good at it...for some reason when you power shift it lowers your et and mph...regular shifting gives slower et but more mph...this is just what i've experienced...

I always shift full throttle. It just takes a lot of practice. it helps if you practice by just shifting fast. If you screw up you can over rev your engine or trash your tranny so be careful!!!

when i was learning i would practise at a lower rpm...so that i had room for error.

also instead of just pushing the clutch in...kick it hard because you're going to be shifting very fast...it's not pretty when the clutch doesn't engage in time...i've got an msd 2step so if i ever miss, then i've got that rev limiter to protect the engine.

good luck man

yes a i agree practice on the street just normal driving but when you shift leave the gas pedal down, kick the clutch pedal and at the same time SLAM the next gear you will get it, however you need to have a good clutch in the car or you will fry it

yeah it takes alot of practice to get it consistantly. my only tip is to scoot the seat forward so you make sure to press the clutch down enough not to grind gears.

Its only for a split second so it shouldn't cause any problems at all. Its the same exact thing that the rev limiter uses. Obviously if it was so horrible, Honda wouldn't have used a fuel cut. Don't sit there and ride on it for 10 minutes and you should be ok.

Do you have the older Hondata, s100 or s200?

Dont be scared of the rev limiter but try to shift before you hit the limiter, it will throw you off..

IF I don't get of the gas in between shifts and am on street tires, I just destroy all resemblance of traction.
