HELP !! 89 si tranny problems

Default HELP !! 89 si tranny problems

my si tranny is shot and i need to put in one from a 1.5 and i have already took everything apart. the flywheel is different and the spline is differnet . i tried to put the 1.5 clutch and it wont work. out of money and the next step was to swap the clutch disc in the 1.5 and put it in the si clutch backing plate will i encounter a problem with this and will the si backing plate fit in the 1.5 tranny without hitting anything. just wandering incase somone has been threw this before. thanks for any help

What year are both trannies?

you can just change the flywheel to the tranny you are using....... use the clutch that came with the tranny you are using...... and the tranny to match..... it is not that hard..... if you ever need a clutch then order one for the tranny that is going to be in the car....... simple as that....

If you're goin to use the 1.5 tranny you better get the flywheel,clutch,and pressure plate for that 1.5 tranny.Because of the spline count on the 1.5 and 1.6 are totally diffirent.

And if im wrong someone correct me

if you got a 89 si then you got a 1.6 you cant bolt a 1.5 tranny in it. i had the same problem and i tied a 1.5 tranny and it dont work.If i were you id just look for a del sol tranny or a tranny on ebay and if u aint got the money now them wait and do it right.
