Default Bra questions...

My mom went to the Acura dealership today to order me a front end mask for my birthday (yeah judy!). The guy pursuaded her not to, stating that it does more harm than good, rocks get stuck up under there, rain ***** the paint up and stuff. So my question is this: I wasnt planning on using the mask except for highway trips, and taking it off otherwise. Was this dude full of **** or what?

thanks

I think he's full of it. A bra is only harmful in the hands of an idiot. You should have no problems using it for the highways. I remember I made a trek up to Toronto and along the way it started raining. So I stopped, snapped it off, and I was on the go again. Obviously, you shouldn't keep it on if it rains.

As long as the car and bra are clean when you put it on you should have no problems. It should fit very tightly btw - if it flaps at highway speed it will scratch the paint. Some reports of hazing of the clear coat have been associated with instances where the bra was left on the car wet and allowed to dry in the sun - but if your paint is waxed underneath this shouldn't happen.

BPR - who hates all bras. (except DD size)

Rob-

IMO, he's full of chit. I've had a bra for both R since day one and just like BPR said, as long as you keep what you're attempting to protect clean/waxed, you should have no problems. Make sure that you keep the car's surface and bra dry though. When the car's surface is allowed to stay wet and blocked from air delivery, this is when the damage from bra applications can happen.

DV- who recently gave Willard one of his bras. Eww, that doesn't sound good, does it?

That guy is not full of it, yes crap will get stuck behind it and hack up your paint if left on all the time. Use it only for long highway trips. I've seen a few cars at work and the hoods are just nasty because of the bra.

I got a bra back in April. I bought it cause I was on my way to Albuquerque, NM. I must say that there were so many rocks and insects that hit the bra. After my trip, I just simply cleaned the underside of the bra, since debris does collect between the bra and front facia.

Yes, waxing the front facia is a must, before u slap on that bra. Just wonderful for those long drives!!!

bras rock for trips and AutoX, i've had some with & without experiences, as long as you keep it clean and don't let it stay wet on the car (if it rains and you're out, don't freak out and take it off, just wait till you get home)...you'll be amazed how many bugs etc. hit your car, to say nothing of the stones and whatnot...and it's alot less aggrivating to hit a cone at 40 with a bra than to buff out the scuffmarks afterwards.

I'm against bras. Just let is hang loose and let people see it. For the money you spend on a bra, just save that cash and get yourself an extra bumper for the future. Cars are supposed to get scratched up when you drive, too much hassle for daily use and only good for extremely long trips.
