According to the FFSquad the jdm p73 pistons will give me 10.8:1 CR in a b17a. this was my first plan, but i'd like to cut costs (by not having to have the rods shaved to have pistons put on).
So, i was thinking that the p30 piston might be a good alternative. I wouldn't have to get the rods shaved, and hopefully the compression would be similar---but I can't find the CR numbers for the p30 pistons in a b17a anywhere.
katman, i'm wondering if you might be the guy with all the answers??
TIA

how can the p30 pistons be bigger than the p73's?? given this info from the FFSquad:
p30 pistons in b16a: 10.4:1
p73 pistons in b16a: 10.6-7:1
doesn't that say pretty blatently that the p73 pistons are bigger???? Or am i way off on my thinking here?
it seems to me that if there is a .2-.3 difference in the compression of a b16a with the p30 pistons and the p73 that there should be approx the same amount of difference when in the b17a motor, but i just need to know the facts.

its the stroke that makes the p30's more compression. if you look at the p30's they acually have a bigger dome. The longer stroke make the higher dome piston go higher in the combustion chamber.

i'm not sure why you're talking about stroke. i realize that stroke will change things. but i'm not talking about altering the stroke.
i gave the specs between the p30 and p73 pistons in the b16a (both cases have the same stroke, however the p73 pistons have the higher compression in that case). I just need to know the CR for the p30 pistons in a b17a.

jdm p73=10.4
p30=10.9
pr3=10.7
pctx=11.3
these of course are stock bore pistons!
the jdm p73 has less piston dome cc than the b16a pistons. http://www.theoldone.com/articles/pistons/
