secondary o2 and o2 sensor questions. (searched)
Im not very knowledgable on o2 sensors, so im gonna ask you guys..lol
Im getting a cel 45. I know what it means.
My questions are,
The secondary o2 sensor, is this just for smog reasons, and i live in a state where it doesnt matter, so i dont really need it, or does it affect the car. I know right now it does, cause its fucked, and im running rich/lean, and the car almost kills at idle, but never does.
Should i fix/replace the secondary o2 sensor, or should i use an o2 sim?
Thanks

Second o2 sensor. the one after the cat? For OBDII cars it's used to monitor the suffiency of the catyalsyt... I don't think it effects emission..other than you may have a poor converter? If you smell "rotten eggs" your usually running rich.. But observe your gas milage.. sorry that was kind of a babble.
yeah, the one after the car. cel 45 is a problem in the fuel system, i believe, i have it written down somewheres.
Im just wondering if that cel, or if a malfunctioning secondary, or primary o2 sensor would cause me to idle really low when stopped.
Im gonna pull the plugs tomorrow, and check those, see if i am running rich or lean, and go from there.
Any help would be great.

i dont exactly remember the code top of my head, search for it tho'
of course it's matter, the second o2 sensor work in conjunction with the primary.
they monitor what is the level of certain type of gas, then sending the data in low voltage form to the ecm, then the ecm adjust fuel input.
it's called close/open loop operation, in short, it save you gasoline
they dont do emission stuff, oxygen senors are input device(um..sensor..), it's the cat converter that do the magic chemical works
