Brakes, Oil pan, Axle Boots
Ok, so i hear this metal sound coming from the front of my car and sounds like the brakes. So i take it into the Japanese Auto place that i trust (they did my clutch and are good guys) and they tell me that its going to cost 1230 before tax to fix it. What im wondering is, I have a friend whos dad owns his own shop and i have access to air tools/ lifts everything. What kind of brakes should i get,( i have stock flat 5's 15" so aem doesnt work), where do i get axle boots and how much, i heard it was difficult to install an oil pan and how much would that cost? I also need to flush the break fluid. Any tips on what to do with my situation, thank you for your time. BTW I did search, and saw that axle boots arent that expensive, but i didnt see any good threads bout brakes or oil pans, thank you for your help.
if you feel youre up to it then by all means go ahead and DIY. first off, invest in a helms manual. read up on all the things you need to do. after reading it decide for yourself if you feel up to it. if youre at all mechanically inclined none of the stuff you mentioned should be too difficult to do. you didnt say what exactly you needed to do to the brakes. do you need rotors, pads, calipers....or what? oil pan isnt difficult to replace either. you can probably find a decent used one here on HT. just make sure you use hondabond on the corners, a lot of people forget that and get leaks. changing the axles may seem a little intimidating, but if you have access to a lift, it should make it a bit easier. good luck and spend the difference of that $1230 making your car faster or prettier
Brakes a very simple DIY for anyone. The most trouble you'll probably have are the 2 countersunk screws in the rotors. Other than that, on a scale of 1-10 for difficulty, I would rate brakes a 3.
The boots for your CV joints are relatively simple to do. A little more involved that the brakes though. On that same scale, they would get a 6 or 7.
And the oil pan is the easiest of all. Only thing you have to remove that is in your way is the B pipe of your exhaust. After that, it's like 16 or 18 I think 10mm bolts and nuts that hold it on. Drop the pan, replace old gasket, and install the new pan.

I need new rotors and pads for the brakes and I think I could do the stuff myself, but yea i need new rotors and pads so what kind would you suggest OEM, I couldnt find any normal size aftermarket.

Go with brembo blanks for rotors or autozone if you want cheap.
OEM pads are also a good choice for daily driving.
Stick with OEM honda fluid too for daily driving.
