Default What's best to go with...

Ok current setup = obd1 gsr w/ itr cams, jdm 4-1 header, high flow cat, rsr exmag, aem cai.. on order is a skunk2 intake mani and itr cai.

So.. what I'm wondering is what I should do about the ECU. It gets a little fuzzy at this point for me. I emailed Kenji and he said he has a great program for this setup with vtec @ 5300 and redline @ 9000, $85 shipped. Now does that mean if I get that... that I am tuned or I need to go dyno and have it tuned somewhere? Also if I do that do I need to get a VAFC?

The car does feel good right now, but I definitely want to get that redline up.. as the cams seem to be making power past where I can shift at the moment on the stock gsr ecu.

Thanks

Why not try a Hondata S200. They look like a good deal to me. By the way are you on an upgraded valvetrain?

Kenji's setups are "pre-tuned" to specifications that he determines will be good for your car. Unless you're running a crazy setup (which you're not), then further tuning isn't necessary. I would get ahold of Kenji and go with it. And no, you won't need a VAFC.

thanks for the quick responses.. I am currently not on an upgraded valvetrain, but itr valves/springs/retainers on the way... so I don't plan on chipping until that goes in.. and even if the chip went in before I'd shy away from taking the revs too high

Judging from what I've seen in some other posts it looks like this should help the performance of the car quite a bit.
