Are you sure fuel cut off is bad for FI?
A bit back, I asked if the stock fuel cut off was bad for our cars and a few people said yes, because it could cause a super lean condition.
However after some more research I've found that Corky Bell (wrote Maximum Boost) says to use a fuel cut off over an ignition cut off and I've also just found that the RX-7 uses a fuel cut of as a boost limiter.
I just wanted to hear what you guys had to say about this.

I would much rather prefer an ignition cut.
), but do you know why ignition cut is better?
to be honest with you the fuel cut is not the way to go. FCD prouducts from HKS and Greddy are al used to increase boost without cutting the fuel. It is not a safe method becuase of the lean condition.
That is the lamest thing anyone has ever doubted me on. Of course I know why ignition cut is better then fuel cut or else I wouldnt have said it. I, unlike some people on here, speak only from experience that I have had with my car and cars that I have worked on. I do not just read something somewhere and start spitting out info like I'm the ****. I could reply to every post on this board with info that someone else has given me but I dont because I'm not sure if it's correct or not.

I'm not doubting you (geez, calm down), just asking for an explanation.
I forget whose who sometimes.....a lot of people talk about stuff they dont know about....I'm just trying to get more info.

The fuel cut method is not the way to go. IT will cause a definite lean condition. As you can see take alook at everyaftermarket ECU none have fuel cut. but you can retard the timing heavly compared just cutting the fuel totally off. It just not a good method of doing things.
I rather have a timing based system with retard and igntion cut than just a fuel cut.

so what would you recommend using? I was thinking of trying to use the MSD SoftTouch to cut the ignition, but I'm not sure how I would do it.
Think about it, if you have compression and you have spark, and you have the tiniest bit of fuel left over from previous combustion, you will get a combustion. Most likely a lean one that will pre ignite. Now if you cut the spark, there is simply no way it could ignite.
just slap an MSD box in your car with a 7400 pill and be done. and get your factory fuel cut limiter moved way out to like 15000.
but the main reason i want to do this is for a boost limiter......but thanks for the info anyway.
oh and your personal experience about this? mind sharing? thanks.

that is my personal experience. if you want to do a boost limiter then buy a pressure switch and use that to activate a relay that will cut ignition or something.
