Im going to be getting my car sprayed at maaco with the paint that I bought.

I did all the prep work and the body is mint. I pulled all the dents and body filled

parts that needed it. I sanded last with 400 grit by hand.

Now my car is complete, like has all the mouldings and ****. WHat do I have to do

so they can roll it into the booth and spray it? There just doing the outside,

no jams/engine bay and trunk. Do I just tape right around the window moulding?

Like right around the black plastic? Tape off mirrors, front grill, head/tail lights...

Help me out, thanks

 

if you dont want over spray in all the jams, i'd tape those off. if you want your grill paited then obviously you dont mask it but if you dont want it painted then i'd take it off, take off the headlights, taillights, put steelies or shitty wheels on, mask around the moldings. You want to use skinny masking tape just to start, then once you go around the outside edge with the skinny stuff, it leaves like a platform for the thicker tape to stick to. i'd take off the mirros. Pretty much take off everything you can that you dont want painted. Even if that means taking the stuff off inthe parking lot before its painted and installing them once its done. Depending on the person painting and how good of a job they feel like doing, you can get some nast over spray that you weren't prepared for.

 

Even window mouldings though? Like I would have to tape it pretty perfect right to

cover it right to the edge. What about dorr handles. I want those painted but I think

it would be hard to get all up in there
