Converted mechanical VSS to electronic VSS. Now speedo is off. How to fix?

Converted mechanical VSS to electronic VSS. Now speedo is off. How to fix?
I used an electronic speed sensor from a 96 civic dx. The only thing i can think of is that the plastic gear on the electronic one is different than the gear on the mechanical one. Should I swap the gears to fix this problem? and if this is the solution,how do you get the gear off? TIA.

seach again, there was a post a few weeks ago on the crx thread about this on how to wire up and what to wire up.
