Who all here has plugged the EGR port?
I saw an article about it on accordingly done for a F22B1. I had no idea that all it does is recirculate exaust gasses from the 4th cylender to all the other cylinders for re burning.
I wonder why the 4th cylinder only?
Anyway, I was just wondering, and was also wondering how it affected mileage, performance, idle, etc.
thanks

It doesn't affect performance or idle. Not sure about mileage. It only works during cruise and light acceleration to keep down emmision of NOx.

when you plugg your egr port, it is going to cause your engine to run hotter and increase emission (nox) is not good for the inviroment, i don' t why you guys do it for? hp/tq gain? think again no...because egr only kick in at light ecceleration and cruising.. there is no point of hacking into egr system...leave it alone damn you ricer.
Teacher what are you talking about? I guess all honda cars have an EGR. NO. Most people have a h22 in a accord and block it off, because they run a P28. So if i run a p28 and plug it (your words) this is bad..HA... Also how do you plug it up? You mean a block off plate?

I haven't read an intelligent post by you yet. If you are the teacher, I feel bad for your students.

blocking the EGR doesn't do a whole lot for performance gains. You will not see much wheel HP for doing this "mod."

i have mine blocked, because i stripped the 1 of the bolts holding the egr down and cannot replace my gasket and its been over 90k miles, but if i can change the gasket and clean it out, i wouldnt block it, if you go to overboost.com there is a article they wrote in "AutoTech" that explains why, this was a long while ago, so you might need to search it up on their site. hope this helps...
and i am the teacher, whats up with you? mainly every post you left are always negative or calling someone "ricer"... and whats it to you if he does it or not? its not your ride, his car his problem...

Why is it everytime that someone doesn't like something on a persons car they call it rice. Is that the biggest insult you guys can come up with. I realize that I am a "N00B" But everytime (it seemslike) I am reading a good post, someone has to come in and start cvalling people ricers. Then the arguments start and the post goes strait downhill. If you need to call someone ricer, or something rice, email it to them and keep this truely a Honda -TECH forum. Notice the word "TECH". And just because someone likes clear bumper/corner lights....OOOOHH-your a ricer...HARDY HAR HAR. Its called "CUSTOMIZING". Its been done to cars since cars have been cars. I personally like the clears over ambers(gives a cleaner look on the car..IMO). Don't like Atezza clear tails. I guess that makes me a ricer to. Oh, 1 other thing. These cars are FOREIGN made. I guess there all rice. WOW! 2 each his own. If I were to do a JDM H22 motor swap, is that rice? Opinions r like a**holes...u know the rest. and there are alot of both on these forums.
Now, I guess I will sit back and wait for the flames....I know there coming.. HE HE

amen......searchbeforeyoupost...that was the most ultimate flame ever...id like to know how much time yuou spend compling that one
........yes, people have plugged their EGR....if ur gonna do that, u might as well just cut away all ur emissions systems (constatnly trowing codes).....egr doesnt do jack to your "performance", and its alot of work w/ no result..... but i guess a DIY EGR blocking plate could give you some experience working w/ the engine itself......

No they don't. They have the same emissions systems as USDM.
Mods please lock this thread.

Exhaust gases don't contain oxygen (or very little), so having exhaust gas in the combustion cycle means that less fuel will burn. Less fuel burning == cooler temps, even if that is somewhat still hot exhaust gas.

It doesn't make it burn less fuel, that would raise hydrocarbon emmisions. It causes the fuel burn slower.
