Default CF Hoods

I didn't want to bring up the other hood thread, so here's the question. Is anyone running with the VIS Invader Hood (or any other with a scoop) having problems with water getting in the engine? Seems like that depression is a good water collector during rain.

i am also curious about vis invader on a lude.

i recently got backed into - causing damage to just the hood (haha lucky me my lude its lowered a lot) - made enough $ to buy a new one rather than waste repair money.

who has an invader cf hood and can give us some advice and a review of it?

maybe someone can include a few pics???

a little bit of water will get in when u wash it, or when it rains, but it will not effect the engine or electronical ****.

with the vis invader hood - what is the vent situated above? because if its just the header area, it shouln't be too bad except maybe added corrosion or something on the studs or header itself, right? have you guys noticed any corrosion?

Your egine bay will always be dirty, and when it rains your header, fans and rad get wet and yes over time things like nut's and bolt's start to rust. I just made a rubber strip that goes into the opening and that eleminated 95% of water penetration. Only problem is that you have to take it out before going on the highway.

Yea i have a cheap pair of headers and they started to rust. But i plan on putting plexi glass over the vent to keep water out for sure.

I've had that hood on for I think over a year and a half now and I've used it in rain, sleet and snow! Yah, when parked, snow built up over it and there would be some on the rad and ****, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Same with the rain. I also had a turbo so it heated up pretty quickly and you would see steam during rain! haha, kinda freaky.

but overall, did u see any excessive corrosion on your turbo or rad or anything due to the vent? that is my biggest concern as far as getting one.

also, where did u pick up your vis invaders? does anyone have a reccomendation as retailer?

On the 4th gen the vent is in a little bit different place than on the 5th gen. The 5th gens vent is situated more over the radiator, and closer to the nose of the car. On the 4th gen, the vent is placed directly above the header/turbo. I noticed significant corrosion due to the vent being there.
