Default Hood pins for carbon fiber hood

I've been told that you need to acquire hood pins after you get a carbon fiber hood cause it's just too light for the highway and it could go flying up. Is this true? I really don't want hoodpins, but I do really want a carbon fiber hood. What's the deal? Is there anything else I can do to keep it down? (to explain ahead of time, I don't want hoodpins cause in my opinion they are for cars that are FAST. Cars that need them, it just looks silly on a civic) Thanks guys.

i would get hood pins. yes some CF hoods have been known to fly off at highway speeds. a lil investment of 30-40 bux can save u the cost of your hood windshield or other damages. possibly could save ur life if it were to come up while driving causing u to lose control of the car. Function over form bro.

i put pins on my cf hood when i got it. its not worth the chance of it coming off while driving!

Don't have any on my car, bought some but couldn't get myself to drill big *** holes in my beautiful hood. Never had any trouble at highway speeds, no movement at all. Seems pretty secure.

Better to be safe than sorry. I think they make black hood pins if you want something more discrete.

i do agree with this. my friend had a cf hood on his delsol. we were driving on the freeway, then *SMACK*. shattered the windsheild, and we both looked in the middle to see the road and pulled over. the latch on the hood had broken off. thats y for my hatch i got hood pins. fashion over function if your all into show then i would understand, but i wouldnt sacrifice my life for just looks. think about it.

it might just save your **** from accident.

it's a fool proof device.

i hate it at first too, i hate it even more that i have to drill on my new hood but guess what? after i see the hood wobbling/floating around 100mph(CLOSED-ROAD, no flame please), i change my mind.

sure, it might not pop up everytime you on the freeway but it only takes one times to wreck joo ride y0

there's some pretty visually low-profile hoodpin around if you perfer that kinda look. i am using silver sparco for now.
