Anyway to tell if a transmission is bad when it is out of the car?

Anyway to tell if a transmission is bad when it is out of the car?

There is a tranny at the junkyard which, I could use since my is gone. Is there anyway to check the transmission when its already been pulled?

The only real way to tell is to crack it open and see the condition of the synchros and gears, and check for floating material (ie broken teeth from worn gears)
