Software and Adapter kit for jacking a laptop into a 95 prelude computer.
I'm looking for a cheap kit/software to hook my laptop into my cars computer. I know some pretty low cost solutions are out there -- I've seen them. It's just been so long that I can't remember who makes them or where to look for them.

wtf?
do you mean u want a laptop in ur car to control engine functions and maps? in that case, the "kit" you mean is a standalone ems (ie AEM, Motec, etc). 1-3 grand for this "kit" hehe

You can hook into the OBD port and get readings of engine function. I think that's what he ment. You can't change maps, or reporgram anything but you can monitor just about everything.
I use AutoTAP to to do this with my car, but that's not real cheap. Might be some cheaper ones out there.

Yeah, I'm not looking to reprogram anything. I just want to read the information and display, record etc..
Who makes AutoTAP and what did it cost you?

AutoTap is made by B&B Electronics in Illinois. You can find it a http://www.autotap.com. Great item for OBD-II cars. We use it on the Prelude and Dakota. The software is available for a PALM Tungsten T as well as a laptop. The most important part of their setup is the modlue that connects the car to the computer. The full setup, which you do not need if you are doing generic import stuff is not cheap, but well worth it since it also can do Chrysler (NEON and and Dakota).
(If you want one I have a version for sale-cheap. Just e-mail me)
BTW: It will clear codes as well as give you graphs and realtime data.

I was checking into it, but my prelude is a 95 and doesn't seem to have a obdII connector. What prelude model/year do you use it on?
