Default Good deal on this Accord? New to Hondas...

I am new to the Honda world so I need your help here. Until lately, I have been a Volkswagen/Audi only guy. I actually had a pretty bad opinion of Hondas and the image that the younger generation of "ricers" had given me. Now, I am all about reliability since I have my first baby on the way. I think German cars are pretty reliable, but I had to be open minded when looking for a new car.

Anyway, after a long time of researching and shopping around, I have come down to my final decision. The car is a 2000 Honda Accord SE. It is an Auto with 44k miles. Dark red in color, tan cloth interior, power everything, keyless entry, and very clean. I am getting the car for $9600. From what I have found, this seems to be a good deal, at least in comparison with other Accords of the same year and mileage. Can anyone give me any info on this particular year and model? Thanks in advance guys. - Ryan

I have quite a bit of knowledge when it comes to cars (especially German) and I can't find anything wrong with it. It has a clean title and we (me and my wife) will be the second owners. Obviously, it has the VTEC engine. Are these pretty solid? I know that it is a variable valve timing system that is quite popular. Is there anything else I should know about these? What kind of things should I look out for as far as common problems go? I hope to learn a lot from you guys here on the forums as I did on the VW forums.

I have nothing but problem with a fd's jetta or in vw in general.

Those vtec engine is bulletproof from factory, nothing much to worry about.

SE comes with power everything, should be a pretty good buy for a daily commuter.

there's a recall on the throttle body getting stuck in the morning during cool start i think, check if your SE is in the list or not. if so take it to honda and they would fix it without charge.

$9600 is an awsome deal. I got my '98 accord lx 5-sp with 43K on it for $9500. We brought the price down from $12500. So either way, you are getting a great deal.

Keep in mind the 2000 Accord had a tranny recall. I'm not sure if this was on all of them, but I had to get mine replaced (free of course because of recall).
