Default O2 sensor light--'01 accord

the check engine light has begin going on and off.
the local honda dealership blames it on the o2 sensor and wants to replace it.
thoughts/recommendations are appreciated.

Read your warranty booklet. I think 'emmissions components' have a much longer warranty vs. the rest of the car.

This statement is PARTIALLY true. Not ALL emissions parts have extended warranties. Converters do ... O2 sensors do not.

Do they tell you what code is stored in the ECM? If they are a reputable dealer ... then it may be wise to have it replaced. If you have doubts ... ask them to run the test and show you the results on the scan tool.

Most ... and I say most ... dealers are not out to rip you off. I work for a Honda dealer and if you werre to approach us and ask us to show you ... we would be more then happy to accomodate you. Ask them ... if they ARE reputable ... they will show you. If not ... then go elsewhere.
