help. the exhaust sound seems to have gotten loud all of a sudden. at idle it sounds normal; it gets loud when speed picks up, ( a little louder than the customized hondas driven by high school/college students). the loud sound trails off until car slows to a crawl. i have looked under the car and did not find any holes in the muffler nor the pipe.

car still has the original muffler. can muffler be bad even though there are no holes in the casing?

is muffler just bolted on or does it have to be welded? any suggestions where to buy other than dealer?

 

Did you check the flex-pipe on the secondary part of the header? It might be cracked. Don't waste your time getting a stock muff. from the dealer... try to get a used one elsewhere.

It's part of #8 and you can get that from a muffler shop. It's called a flex tube or flex pipe.

 

thats the first place my exhaust blew open.. now i've gotta LOUD CUSTOM EXHAUST DRIVEN BY ME... A 16 YEAR OLD :smile: (sorry bout the caps)
