Default removing oil breather on back of block?

Is it possibly to remove the big black box that i assume is some type of breather for the oil? I was thinking just a block off plate and use the 2 screws to hold that, that hold the breather on now..

thanks
pat

Dont worry guys, its still on there..lol

I was just wondering.

And what does the PCV system do anyways, just get rid of crank case pressure right?

note quite "just", but yeah, relieves pressure as the pistons go up and down, reduces blow by thru the piston rings. you can remove the neoprene cover of the breather chamber to make it look a bit cleaner, but its still a black metal box inside of it.

It doesn't actually feed into the PVC system on many earlier models. Mine simply relieves the crank case pressure to the intake manifold oil port. You really want to leave the "black box" on there to allow for the pressure to be relieved.

Why were you thinking of removing it? Is it in your way?

This was just a random question and i wanted to know.

i think im going to take an extra "black box" lol ...that i have, and make an actual filter/breather for it and see how that works.

I did that to mine... Works fine for me, I haven't run it enough to see if it actually stops oil from going into the intake, But I don't see what it would hurt.
