Weird Exhaust Noise
Alright, I've had this Comptech SS exhaust on my '00 GSR for months now, but lately there's been a strange metallic rattle somewhere along the pipe. It's only noticeable if you rev it a bit or do anything that would cause extra vibration. I think it may be one of the heat shields. Would it be too bad if these things were removed? Anyone else ever have this problem? It's making my car sound like it's got a damn ricer pipe in it!

Just bend the heat shields out of the way. Put your car on a lift, grab a long screwdriver or crowbar, and bend the shielding where it hits. People who've pulled the heatshields say doing so will make the center area of your car (hump below the shifter) warm to the touch after driving for a while.
Thanks. I'll give it a shot this weekend. Not sure why this particular noise just started recently. The exhaust has been in forever and not made any other sound that the deep hum I'm used to.
if you are describing what i think you are, mine does the same thing, i have a tenzo r exhaust with custom piping from the cat-back and whenever i really rev my car above like 5krpm it makes alittle rattle from the vibration hitting the bumper or something else, pretty normal stuff in most cases
Yup, even bought all new seals for it. Comptech recommended all OEM seals except for the one that connects the center pieces. That one I bought straight from Comptech. The rattle started just recently. I'm going to jack it up this weekend and see what I can do with it.
