I"m lookin to buy some cams for my 95 gsr.. Are these cams any good? I'm pretty interested in them.. What kinda gains cuold i see with them? I'm kinda new to cams and stuff so please share ur knowledge. Thanks

Comp cams? Sucky since they're more of a domestic specialized company. Stick with Skunk2, Spoon, Toda or Mugen camshafts. These brands are much better and are proven to increase power.

 

Do you have actual experience with them? Just wondered how do you draw your conclusions, that your premise of domestic specialized companies products are sucky.

Likewise. If a product works, has the right specs for your setup, and are of good quality, I'd buy them regardless of the name on them.

i'm running on skunk2 stage2's right now and they run excellent. as far as power gains i haven't dynoed yet, but i don't plan to till i get my itr pistons put in. my buddy has a pretty good setup with jun3's and he has itr pistons already. his dyno runs turned up 28 hp at 6800 rpm if i remember correctly,but i'll ask him tomorrow to be sure. he has the sheets at home.

I've personally tuned & tried all 3 Flavor Stages from Skunk2 here in Miami, FL. They are indeed great products, each set of CAMs worked differently in every car & setup. My personal best tune in 1.8 liter setup was using Skunk2 Stage 2 intake & Stage 3 exhaust on an LS/VTEC 1.8 (CTR .25mm over) that gained from 175whp/128ftlb to 212whp/144ftlb. The other one was a GSR 1.8 (ITR .40 over) using Stage 3 215whp/153ft.lb (There might not be as much hipe of peak WHP, but the powerband it's very very fat! I'll see if I can get the Dyno scanned & upload them).

The Comp Cams are very good in quality & specs, but I will be testing the 3 flavors soon & posting the dyno results.

 

dont run comp cans i think u eould be a lot happier with skunk2 cams

 

Like I said! Have you had personal experience with them, not just an opinion. Just like some few ppl says that Skunk2 Stage 3 are not streetable, need more CR (&gt;11:1) & that they have lumpy idle, & the whole 9 yards of posting opinions w/o any true facts. (Which, in the good/bad part some readers are reading so many crap post, that they end up selling their Skunk2 STG3 cams for extreme cheap prices w/o haven't even tested them!) We've used a few Skunk2 CAMs & we can say we have very different results from poor opinions.

The COMP CAMS will be tested for reasons of R&D starting from Stage 2 & then Stage 3. And, since they are priced out as one of the most inexpensive cams set, it's worth the try. We will gladly email them once we've completed the test.

 

I've heard too many horror stories about ebay cams to buy any.
