Default What size rims?

I want to improve my traction and handling and was wondering how wide of a 16 inch rim will work on a GSR with minimal rubbing. What size wheels and tires are you guys running?

Currently the car is lowered 1.5 inches but I might install Type R springs because I I think the car is a little low.

16X7 with 205/50/16 tires should work.

Perfect size for that size wheel.

I was running 215.40.16 then 205.40.16's and they were pretty cool. Lowered 2.5-3" in front and 2-2.5" in back and it handled alright. Now, I raised the car about 1.5 inches all around and it handles muuuuch better with 195/60/14 azenis

I'm running 205/40/16 on my 16x7" wheel. So far so good.

Can you run 215 wide tires on 16s? The most contact area would be best IMO.

If you do something that takes advantage of that. It might be worth .2 seconds on an autox course if you are good enough.

A sticker smaller tire will be better than a heavier tire. Azenis for instance only come in 215/45/16 which will be heavier and change your gearing. A 205/50/15 Azenis would be a better choice.

16x7 205/45/16 is perfect for an average dropped G3

Also keep in mind unless you car is slammed a 40 series looks silly imo on a g3, theres just to much gap and the wheels look tiny. The 45 series gives it a meaty look, while fitting nicely in your wheel well. Also you don't have to worry about bent rims every other month

50 series= way to big Cough 4x4

From the responses and the fact that I do not want to change my gearing. The preferred size combination is 16x7 with 205/45/16. The question is will I get improved handling over my current 205/50/15?

go with the widest 15" rim you can find. The rim only needs to be big enough to clear your brakes. Anything bigger is just adding rotating intertia...which is not good.

If I get rid of my Work wheels, this is what I'll be running. Slipstreams, gunmetal with a polished lip....mmmmmm mmmmm, bitch!

Is the 16X7 rim big enough to install a brake upgrade kit (like the AEM)?

I am trying to justify new rims.

If I want more performance should I run 225/50/15 (wider tire) Yokohama AVS ES100 tires or

Get some 16's and run 215/45/16?

Two things, don't need rims and the tires for 16's are more expensive. I just want more perforamance??? Currently running 205/50/15 Azenis on stock rims.

if you just want improved performance, get some cheap light 15x7 rims, and use those tires on them.

I have 98 spec R rims, 16x7 with 215/45's. 1 finger gap and no rubbing.

edit: 225's will rub if the car is lowered without spacers.......
