Default skunk2 intake manifold, p28

alright i have been looking to buy a skunk2 intake manifold been looking around at prices and specs,it goes most power at 7000 rpms and up,and i got a gsr that red lines at 8500 so i have been looking at threads and been trying to understand what to do i have heard some people talking about chiping there ecu with a p28 for the intake manifold so in other words i know i need to chip my ecu so i can have a higher rev limit but i dont know what chip to get i want one that would help my intake manifold
thanks

you don't need any ECU chipped, u will still get power with the stock ECU, just alot of dead spots along the power band.

You could get a p28 w/ ECU chip or get hondata and tune it, search the archives for ECU stuff.

sell your gsr ecu--$$$$

buy a chipped p28 from IH8RICERZ for $185.tell him i sent you

you'll have money left over, because gsr ecu's sell for a lot of cash.

his custom all motor chip works wonders...

IT SUCKED to have the gsr ecu with a skunk2 manifold...

A P28 ECU with a decent chip should easily outperform the stock P72 ECU. I would definately look into the upgrade.

Wouldn't you need to change the paremeters on the air and fuel maps due to the increase in rev limit? Or is it simply just a bolt on thing and hope that it works?

Gains are entirely dependent upon what other supporting mods have been made, and how the engine is tuned.

The more mods you have the better the gains are. Especially cams and nice header back setup. Your going to lose a bit on the low end, the single runner is meant more for midrange/top end. Its something you definately want if your modding your GSR

The more mods, the better the gains. Thats basically all you can say from it.

Or you can search. There are A LOT of Skunk2 IM threads. There have been that are very thorough with information. You of all people should have checked, I see your name on here all the time telling others to search. Just search and you'll find all the material you need.

goodluck.

How come everyone thinks you lose low-end? most graphs i have seen they gained or stayed the same, and my did as well (actually gained 1-2hp up to 5,000).

i got one on my 01 LS and all you need as far as extra parts are throttle body gasket and an intake manifold gasket...those could be picked up at honda for about $20-30 for both pieces, i got an AEM CAI and i didn't have to change it in anyway...couldn't really feel a dramatic change in power when i put mine on...good luck though mann...peace
