Default Engine or exhaust actin real funny...need help with it

Every once in awhile if i jerk the car thru a gear or hit a speed bump or other sort of bump, my 94 teg will idle oddly and eventually the Check Engine light comes on. In order for me to fix it so that it idles properly again, I have to turn off the car and restart the engine. Normally that will fix it. It was much worse before, but I have replaced the spark plugs, changed the exhaust to a new pace setter (the old one was horribly rusted and had holes in it. The car runs a lot smoother now, but it will still idle wierd if I do anything jerky w/ the car. Anybody have any suggestions on what it could be? Maybe an O2 Sensor or Spark plug wires...hopefully something simple. The exhaust I replaced was Catback btw. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I'm losing it here. Thank you very much.

Start by pulling the code(s) from the ecm, that way you know why the check engine light is coming on. Off the top of my head it may be a bad ground connection but pull codes and go from there.

Don't I need a specific tool to pull codes from ECU?

Nope. All you need is a paperclip.

Sorry for laughing, but I've never heard that before...are you kidding? If not, then how is a paperclip gonna help me?

Could somebody please tell me how you pull codes using a paperclip? I've never heard of that.

I forgot the link, but team-integra or someplace has a few good pictures...

You'll have to dig around up in the passenger's kick panel. Tucked up into the corner between the bottom of the glovebox, top of the kickpanel, & close to the door opening, there's a green rubber holder with 2 blue plastic wire connectors in it. One's a data-link connector (you don't want that) I think that has 3 wires(?). The one with 2 wires is the service-check-connector. Bend a paper clip into a U, stick it in there so it connects the 2 wires to each other. That'll make your check-engine light flash. Count the flashes, long=10, short=1, long pause means start counting another error code.

thank you, i did find the connector and it's giving me a code 3 which is for MAP Sensor defective circuit or unplugged or whatever. Thing is now...I have no idea where that is and how to check or replace it. Could someone help me out on this? Thank you all for the help and sorry for me laughing when I was the doofus who didn't know the paperclip check.

Yeah, that's it...

MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure... I think the MAP sensor is on or near the throttle body, & it's not very big. I don't have a picture of one right now...

I figured it out...it's right on top of the intake manifold...the wires were being jiggled around because they weren't strapped to anything and it was becoming loose, hence the "check engine" light coming. I really do appreciate you guys helping me. Thank you.
