my crx has been actin up...
ok. most of these things are electrical...
1. when i push the brakes, the door and seatbelt light in my gauge cluster lights up, and not my brake lights.
2. throwing code 20 *electrical overload ? i think*
3. sometimes my tach wont work, it either sticks at 0 or just jumps around while im on the gas.
4. when im idling it will jump from 1000 to 1500 rpm then dip back down. but only sometimes.
5. sometimes my battery will stay charged and other times it will die after an hour of sitting. *new alternator and optima redtop battery installed within the last month.
i dont know what to do about this stuff. its a real pain in the ***. i need to fix my electrical and charge problems soon so i can install my system.
any help would be great! thanks

check all your wires and your fuses, also check your alternator maybe the regulator is going out..make sure you have good ground connections after that try reseting your ecu..good luck
ok this might be long because there is a lot of steps involved so we will go through one at a time
open the main fuse box lid, this is the one thats in the engine bay.
pull the 3 wire connector out.
turn ignition on
measure volts between the blk/yel wire and the blk wire, should be the ones on the end of the connector. but i got confused here, idk if you suppose to measure the volts on the fuse box itself or the connector, so try and measure both sides and tell me what you get
is there battery volts ?

Im only guessin that because i relocated my battery to the back of my crx in order to make more room for my GSR swap and i hit a pretty bad bump and it knocked my battery over, within the box of course, but the terminals came lose..and my guage cluster was actin up...Everytime i pushed the breaks, my guage cluster would go crazy exactly how you described it......

get a grounding kit....they help....i think its grounding out somewhere too many things are happening that elec.....just my thought...but could be wrong...
hey you may want to get rid of that code 20 first, it could be the cause of all those problems
and im trying to help you get rid of that code 20 in my first post, but you know if you dont want it, even though your getting electrical problems and you also happen to be getting a code 20 which is electrical overload

the door/seatbelt lights on my cluster used to lightup when I hit the brakes in my rex too. it turned out to be a short somewhere in the seatbelt system/sensors behind the door panel somewhere. at least thats what the tech at the honda dealer told me. i got it fixed for free though cause apparently it was part of the seatbelt system and all of that is on lifetime replacement if anything goes bad. hope that helps!
cool, yeh that does help. i took out my door seatbelts a while back so theres probably a wire touching somewhere.
as for the idling im going to check my vacuum lines today.
and ill probably add more grounds to my battery i think thats why it doesnt charge. i dont know! but its very annoying. my car just started fine from sitting all night in my driveway, i went down teh road to get gas, and it wouldnt turn back on. so this sucks.
