. The shock is the specific damping mechnism. The "strut" is usually what people call the entire assembly.
Now that I think about it, though, people say that the Si of your model has control arms and not MacPhearson struts, so you might have shocks and some sort of connective mechanism that I'm not familiar with. I haven't worked on the newer Si's at all.
