Squeaking Noise Question
There is a squeaking noise comming out from my engine bay when the car is idling.
I think its the timing belt but im not sure, since every time i put my foot on the clutch the squeaking noise goes away. Its a pretty high pitched noise, any ideas on what this could be??

Clutch throw-out bearing? Have someone push the clutch pedal while you stand in front listening. I imagine you'll be able to tell the location of the sound. Timing belt & clutch are on opposite ends of the engine.
ALWAYS, the best first thing for a noise is to pinpoint it's location. "Engine bay" doesn't really narrow it down much...

There was another thread posted about the same thing a few days ago, and I think we determined it was his throwout bearing.
Do you sit at a stoplight or whatever w/ the clutch disengaged? If you do, this is bad for the throwout bearing and is most likely your problem. Never sit for a long time with the clutch disengaged, you should only have the clutch disengaged when you're shifting or just before starting moving from a stop.

Do you mean If i sit at a stop light with my foot down on the clutch? If thats the question my answer is HEEEEELL NO, lol.
I'm not sure whats wrong with it, except for the fact that it stops squeaking only when I put my foot down on the clutch.

well the transmission input shaft and the gears on that shaft are always spinning whenever the engine is running and the clutch is engaged, even if the car is in neutral. So it's either something in the transmission that's making the noise, or the throwout bearing. You might want to try changing your transmission fluid if you haven't done it lately and see if that changes anything, before you go and start spending big money on other things.
its the throwout/release bearing...i didnt replace mine during my ACT clutch/flywheel install and it makes that horrible vibrating/squeeking noise when my foot isnt resting on the clutch pedal.

Tranny bearings keep spinning until you disengage the clutch completely.

</TD></TR></TABLE>If you don't like working on your own car, and the clutch WAS getting near worn out, then you shoulda said yes. But if you wanna upgrade & you don't mind putting it in yourself, then you did good...
