as always, 95 civic ex, manual.

found some more stuff out. my mechanics said my valves sounded fine and didn't need adjusting. i've also ruled out transmission. the engine kind of growls, or has a really fast tap, starting at 3k rpm almost exactly, and almost goes away about 4.5k. however, it only happens under power. the moment i let off the gas, the sound goes away. i'm almost starting to think it's some funky induction noise. any ideas?

 

my 93 ex did the exact same thing before the rod went through the block

 

are you kidding me?

what caused the rod to do that? how long did the noise last before the it threw the rod?

what did your noise sound like?

sounded like rods bearing.

 

ok, if it is rod knock, then about how much longer do i have left before the engine fails? 500 miles? 1000 miles?
