h&r sport/agx setup feels weird
i thought it was cause of the old worn springs i previously had that my car would get really unstable going over slight bumps on the highway, well now with the sports/agx's it seems worse...when im on the highway or have a lil bit of accelaeration going(say 45+) and i encounter slight bumps my car seems to be skipping over them and loosing traction/stability...and on a slight turn with bumps,my car wants to like skip and shudder and lose stability...can anyone shed some light on this..i know a bunch of us have this set up and i want to know if anyone else encountered this situation or one similar...i tried various tire pressures and shock settings but cant eliminate that feeling....please enlighten me as my car feels so unpredictable right now....
2 doesn't sound to bad, that's what I run mine on (2 front, 3 rear).
If you are skipping over bumps on corners, you may be cornering on your bump stops and you might have to have them cut. How much of a drop are the H&R's? Are they about 2"?

That's weird, something just doens't sound right.
What size tires/pressure?
To see if you are hitting the bumpstops, wrap a zip tie around the shock body and drive around and then see where it sits. If it's up against the bumpstop you may need to trim it more.

205/50/15...right now im at about 34-35 all around...can i trim the bumstops more while everything is still in th car..
i.e. jack it up pull the rubber dust boot down and trim with a long knife or something?
my thoughts exactly...something doesnt "feel" right...

Other things to check, make sure the springs are on the right ends. It sounds silly but it has happened before.
The pressure is a bit high (what tire?), try 28-32. That should help but I think the problem lies elsewhere.
It could also be bushing related, does the car wander, vibrate, or pull to the side?

springs are installed correctly...fronts on front.rears on rear...tires are kuhmo 712's about 5000 miles on them ,still new, plenty of tread...i"ll try lower air pressure..but can the bumpstops be trimmed while on the car..maybe they do need a lil more trimming..no wandering, vibrating, pulling in any direction..
btw thanks roy

I run the same tires, 32 should be fine. They don't start to skip on the street until 48 or so.
I think the only thing is the bumpstops, you will only skip when you run out of dampening (hit the bumpstop). Try the zip tie test before you trim them to much though. Good luck.

I'll tell you the problem, H&R Sports springs are junk. They are too soft and lower the car too much. I measured a 3" drop on my car (no they have not sagged, it's been like this for over 2 years now), and even with Koni Sport shocks, my car pitches and bounces quite a bit over dips and bumps on the interstate.
The springs are much too soft for that amount of drop. H&R said to not cut the bumpstops, so I didn't, and a year and a half later when I took apart the shocks to try to trim them, I found my rear bumpstops were totally disintegrated from bottoming out.
As soon as I can afford it, custom-rate Ground Controls for Koni shocks will be going on my car.

just give me koni yellow money..
anyway i lowered the pressure at lunch time to 32 psi all around...seems to feel a lil bit better ,the sidewall flexes alot at that pressure...this weekend i"ll do the zip tie trick but from the feels of it i think the bumpstops need more triming...i can feel the shocks do there job up front for about maybe an inch inch and a half then it gets unstable, hence bouncing of the stops instead on absorbing more...the rear isnt as bad being that i cut more in the rear,i thought with the front being heavier and the spring rates being the same all around the extra cushion up front would help,i think it hurts more than helps...but i hope i can trim the fronts without taking the suspension out ...

Here's a dumb question
but have you had the car aligned? Maybe the toe is off alot. Also, the camber may be uneven on different sides due to a prior accident or something like that. An alignment would show this. If you haven't had one done I would definately get this done.

no not yet but i went from the pro kit, to the sports and the pro kit was the same was just not as bad and due to it being a lil lower now i thought it might have to be due to the bumpstops not being cut and the shocks shuddering up/down off them..causing the car to shudder like when hitting bumps...alignmenmt date is this saturday...

I doubt an alignment will change anything, my car is aligned every 6 months and I have the same symptoms he has. The problem is the springs are too f$%@ing soft for the amount they drop.

If it's still giving you this bouncy problem after the alignment I'd sell the H&Rs and get some Sportlines. I have them and they ride really nice (for lowering springs) and don't get bouncy ever. They really stiffen as you hit bumps.

why dont u get something instead of just saying get this get that...

but thats the thing, its not bouncy,i dont have the ricer bounce,i just dont like how it skips over bumps...overall im pleased with the springs...
the reason i think i need to trim the bumpstops is,i can feel the shock absorbing the bumps up until about 2 inches of suspension travel, then the contact with the bumpstops are made then it starts skipping due to the bumpstop absorbing some of the bumps with the shock...so by trimming the bumpstop it will delay the contact of the bumpstop for normal street bumps untill i hit a large bump...
make sense to anyone?
p.s.
can the bumpstops in the front be trimmed while on the car?

yea, its a bitch but take of the wheel and use a razor blade, make sure you dont cut the shaft of the strut. one little scrape and the frey goin up and down will rip the seal on the strut. Check balljoints and tie rod ends too.... Also what year is your car?
Me and a buddy of mine recently did suspension. I have ground control/koni's and he has apex world sport. His car rides so much nicer than mine because when he did his, he replaced the pillow mounts. (The caps on top of the spring that have two studs to bolt to your car) So i am gonna take mine out and do mine definetly worth it!!!!! 100 bucks from the dealer!

I doubt it... it's not that hard to pull them back off the car though.
And greenteg already has Neuspeed Race springs and Koni shocks, and apprently is pleased with them, so that's why he was suggesting them.

ok...but he could have at least stated why..instead of just" hurry up and buy hurry up and buy" lol
man i dont have the time to take the front suspension out again for a while now..
