New to preludes
Ok im looking to buy a 4th gen lude. Now i used to be a ford guy coming to all this wow. anyone know of a break down website. I sold my last project car so i have some coinage. Few questions about the lude its self. First is the 4 wheel steer worth anything? also what motor? Keep in mind i wanna swap. Whitch brings me to my next question. honda guy at work said the 2.2 Vtech was what is good for swaps. Now is that true? and what build up are we talking so it can live tro 8 psi and up? i know im a noob to ludes but not cars. also what is a good shop in the boone area of NC. For bottom end build ups and tuneing? thanxs
welcome to honda-tech
before you get many useless posts on using the search function i recommend you start searching.
but to answer your question...
-4ws is not worth anything.
-the H22A (2.2 VTEC) is an awesome motor for the 4th gen... it came in some 96 4th gens.
but the H23A (non-VTEC) is an awesome motor for boost... tons of torque. you gotta choose...
-for 8psi and up, you would want to get forged pistons/rods (many brands to choose from) and make sure you resleeve the block(also many brands to choose from). it might be costly, but it will ensure your investment. also hondata/uberdata or aem ems for engine management is a must, any other would be sacrificing your investment.
-edit: you might want to put an LSD(quaife is one of th best good choices) in your car to put the power to the ground.

Buy the cheapest model...the S model with the 2.2 F22a non-vtec motor. But like others have said you can just get the H22a in 93-96 Prelude VTECs if you don't want the swap hassle.
Buy a JDM H22a and tranny and have the block sleeve with dartons or goldeneagle or whatever. Put in forged pistons/rods and get a good turbo kit. Full standalone EMS. Drop it in the S model, upgrade the brakes and tune that bitch.
Just remember you have to re-sleeve the h-series motors to run forged pistons. If you learn one thing, that's it.
