Question about wings?
Ok I see all these people with wings on their cars that they say create down force. At high speeds thats true (even though most hondas aren't going to be running 200mph for enough time to matter) Anyways I was thinking if it creates down force wouln't that create traction problems.Would'nt it push more on the rear causing less weight/traction on the front wheels?
Exactly, sort of. If you're going to run to those speeds you want to have downforce on both axles, or at least minimize lift. This is a complex subject (aerodynamics) but take a look at the Progress/Vortech Civic. That is a great example of an appropriate aero setup.
Now look at the Nuformz Focus (when it was first introduced). It had a massive rear wing that produced so much downforce that the front tires would break loose top end, just as you guessed might happen. The wing had since been pared down before Carlson's switch to Mopar.
Hope that helped!
