What kind of OBD-I ecu would you suggest? What are ECU differences?
What kind of OBD-I ecu would you suggest? Planning on Hondata chipping for naturally aspirated purposes. Right now, I'm looking for a p28. However, Hondata's site says that :
HONDATA.COM:
""""""""P72,P28,P30,P61,P08J,P30J,P72J suitable ecus, but:
Manual transmission only with the s100 or s200 systems.
Secondary intake runner operation will be lost if a P72 ECU is not used.
OBDII to OBDI adapter harness required.
OBDI ECU swap.
Differential control will be lost. """"""""
they say the above listed ecus are aight for chipping, but then again, the few times i removed my ecu to install piggybacks, i never glanced at what type it was? (2000 prelude base mt?). is my stock one is already one of the suitable ones (doubtful, because i have obd2)?
also, i have heard of many people using p13. why is it popular?
also, what are the differences in these ecu's? i ran some searches and couldn't find anything too specific regarding a comparison between these.
finally, im def. going to perform an obd-1 conversion with hondata s100 non-boost, and would like advice as far as which ecu to shoot for. thanks for any advice / info

im currently using an untuned v-afc. would obd-1 conversion be a better buy, considering the cost comparison of abou $300 for chipped ecu + conversion harness, plus whatever hondata tuning will cost me
versus paying $140+ for getting v-afc tuned?
what do you guys think?

the p13 is the OEM Prelude ecu for the VTEC from 92-96 you can't use hondata with that.
Just get a P28 and put it in only when you get the hondata, you can't run it stock and get good result.
