Default Cali smog legal b18c...input needed PLEASE!!!

Does anyone have a cali ref legal b18c here? Please list your setup.
Here is what I am thinking. B18c, us ecu, obd1 conversion harness, Gsr injectors, eliminated injector resistor, Gsr IM, and b16b (ctr) pistons. I have no idea on HG, please offer input.
Is the skunk 2 manifold cali legal? Because I heard it would be better. Is there a skunk IM that looks like a regular gsr IM?

I was thinking about doing piston and crank work while the engine is out, then ref it, then build the head. I need suggestons. Ryan

you are gonna need the charcoal canister and all other stuff off of the integra. might as well throw on a gsr manifold on temporarily. just try to mimic an integra engine bay as good as you can.

good luck, if you pull this off.

IMO, this is probably the most difficult motor and car to referee certify

I was thinking the same thing too, because in a month or so I will be installing my own B18C SirG. Mine is also being built up using Skunk2 cams, gears, and IM. The S2 IM looks pretty stock-ish, but my fuel rail doesn't. I will also be getting a header which I will weld a heatshield onto.

My question that I wanted to add is this: has anyone tried using the stock GSR airbox with their swap?

Thanks

Blueshadow, it seems that you are trying to make your engine look as low profile as possible. Are you trying to get your ref sticker? Thats a good idea, thats what my b16 engine looks like right now. I have the factory airbox, and a dc header with factory heat shield.

Someone please answer out questions.

In order for you to have it BAR legal you have to have stock ECU which means you have to run the stock IM. Just use all the stock stuff (unless it has CARB EO# on it like AEM intake) and mod it afterwards.

Yeah, thats what I am thinking, but since the engine is out, I was going to add ctr pistons, and work the crank a bit. Do you think it will still pass emissions. What kind of comprssion should I shoot for, and what HG should I use. Does anyone have personal experience with this? Thanks, Ryan

Yup, that's right...IIRC the other GSR manifolds like AEBS, JG, or whoever are all very easy to spot because they have their company logo on the part. Hopefully the smog ref wont know enough to tell the diff between a S2 IM and a GSR IM. I am also getting a stock looking exhaust like the HKS sport. With all that and the US smog equipment, it shouldn't be to hard to smog and ref the car.

I would still like to know exactly what some people did to get their B18C reffed.

most ref's are not retarded.

If you are going to put a skunk2 manafold you will need a carb EQ # last i checked it was still "pending" so just smog it with your factory manafold.

If you are going to use an intake you have to use a CARB EQ'd intake for the engine. IE if it is a 95 GSR engine then you have to buy a short ram for a 95 GSR.

If you put CTR pistons in you might have problems with NOx with such high combustion temps and stock fuel pressure. You can not have fuel pressure gauges and adjustable fuel pressure regulators nor bling fuel rails.

KEEP IT SIMPLE for the ref, USDM P72 ecu is a MUST, either stock or carb eq'd everything.

Have a fresh cat and have your purge valve hooked up.

10.6 compression on the GSR is fine man

just smog it like that

I wouldnt go any higher or you will have issues getting enough fuel and have an end result in combustion temps that are too high and will cause super high NOx

I used to have a b18c1 in my 89 lx and encountered these same issues and i actually went to ask smog refs in 2 different counties, one in Los Angeles and one in Sonoma...

although both were iffy about passing the engine swap..the things they did agree on is that you MUST

have all emissions equipment pertaining to the engine, meaning all sensors (meaning wiring conversion to obd1) proper ecu, and of course no codes...

which actually if you do have all that equipment working properly then i wouldn't worry about emissions numbers because it would be just like smogging a GSR.

Also, what hood/mount kit were you running. Will the zc hood work? also, what header?

Yeah, Im goin full obd1. with us spec ecu.
