the "S" light
ok so while driving today(pizza delivery) my S light came on and kept blinking. i mean i didn't know what i ment but from what i knew before i got feaked out because i thought something wrong with the AUTO trans.
so i did search and i got a couple of questins.
ok my situation is like this. when the S light comes up and it blinks i shut donw the car and start it again and light doesn't come back on for a while. i mean tonight in a matter of 6 hours the light came up only 3 times.
someone said that i can check the code on that S light the same way i check for engine code. can someone translater that. do i go and to the same plug and read the check engine light >>>> or does the TCU have a different plug on its self.
i mean i don't know **** about auto trans so please bare with me for a minute or so.
and my oil smells a little burn but it has always smelled like that since i bought the car 2 years ago. i have changed the oil twice since then>>> because i work as pizza delivery so i do the maintenance a lil more ofter then u guys.

It depends on the year. Either jump the service check connector or count the blinks on the TCU itself.

A 90 Accord? I don't think it has a service check connector. Just count the blinks of the LED on the control unit.

Yes I believe honda does it the same for their cars. But usually the VSS sensor is out or is a common problem with the 4th gens. When my VSS (vehicle speed sensor) went out my s light started blinking and pulled a CEL, and found out it was code 71 or something. On my 90 I never had to "jump" codes, I just pulled back my floor board to expose my ecu and counted the blinks
. If your s light is blinking it should throw a ecu code too. GL

i have the code.
it gives me a code 7 from the S light.
now i noticed one other thing. when the s light blinks i usually stop the car shut it down then start it again then the s light don't come out no more for a while.
yesterday i drove with the S light one and i noticed on thing. the automatic transmision shifts from 1st gear to the 3 gear. what happen to the 2nd gear.
so i turn the car off then start it again>>>> then the automatic trans it shifted regulary. u know from 1st gear to 2nd gear then to 3 gear.
but anyway. my code is 7. what does that mean. and no nisan take over. lol

When I bought my Accord this past mid-December, I had the computer sent to Houston to have it fixed. I believe it's prolly the TCU. What is that, Trans. Control Unit or sumptin? Anyway, one day my dad test drove it while I was at work one day before I bought it. Started in second, stayed in second (and yes, it was in D4 not 2 for those who just have to ask, lol). Turned around, shifted normally. A friend of ours who works at the dealer we were getting the car through later experienced a similar problem with the bad shifting. My dad thought the tranny was hosed, but a Honda mech at the dealer checked it out and said it was the computer. Fixed the comp, never had a problem.
Maybe it's just ur computer? I don't know jack about the codes... all I know is that a blinking S light = possible problem with tranny.
