Default EMISSIONS High CO , what octane gas is best??? help running RICH

I passed the hydro carbons test, just have to get my Monoxide levels down from 30 to 15 , 89 CRX B16a , timing 16, 93 octane gas. MSD ignition ,AEM short ram. I know having too high CO means i am running rich, any suggestions on how I can fix this, besides buying a fuel rail and adjustable fuel pressure regulator???? PLEASE HELP !!! I tryed adding one bottle of HEET in the gas too.

I was told by my smog guy when I smogged that the lower octane is best.

if your Hydro carbons are low and ur CO is high that doesnt mean that u are running too rich.
hydrocarbons= unburned gas
do u have a good cat?
carbon monoxide being high by itself means that the exahaust isnt being catalyzed enough (which is the transfer of an O atom from NO to the CO bond to create the exhaust gasses CO2 and N)

Just had a brand new cat welded up 2 days ago , i also have 2 new O2 sensors, brand new cat back exhaust, and I am running MSD ignition system which should actually help emissions. I know I am running a bit rich, just looking for ideas on how to lean out a bit. I usually run 93 octane gas on my car, does anyone run lower, i heard the most efficient way to burn gas is lowest octane possible with the least advance timing possible. IS this true? yet a lot of other mechanics are sayinmg I should be running the highest octane possible, maybe even with a litttle methanol in it for cleaner burn.which is the right way. Will my motor ping if it is run on a lower octane gas than usual and run like crap? I wonder if I have a short or something in one of my O2 sensor wires , they are brand new bosch 1 wire sensors. any way to test to see if they are working correctly, becasue doesnt the O2 sensor control air fuel ratio? maybe this is why I am running rich? Have any ideas PLEASE HELP I HAVE TILL TUESDAY TO PASS, i am driving in a permit since i failed so many times.
