when i start up my car the oil light stays on for a second or two. i just changed the oil and filter and i do it every 2000 to 2500 miles and im using mobile 15w 50. also when i pulled the dipstick out it smelled kinda burnt. any input would be great.

 

Is it leaking? Oil light indicates your oil pressure is low..

 

It could also mean that you have to much oil in your pan....

 

no its not leaking. i have an oil pressure gauge and it idles between 20 and 25 psi and peaks out around 75 psi.

Mine does the same thing but that seems normal to me because both of my GSR's did that on a cold start. It takes a second or two for the oil to reach the oil sending unit. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

If you're driving and the light comes on...that's a whole different story. It'll come on when your oil level/pressure is very low and most times its already too late by the time you pull over.
