Default remote start. any negitive effect?

my car python car alarm has remote start option on it and has not been installed yet. i want to do it so i can save time warming up the car, but dont know if having it done can do something bad for the car/engine. also if you have remote start, how long does it last before turning off by it self with having the key to start it?

the only negative effect will be when you forget and leave it in gear and it drives itself down the street and or crashes into something. It WILL happen. Its just a matter of when. Remote starts on a manual are not the best idea. Anyone that has a remote start on a manual and says they never accidentally started it in gear is lying. Obviously the choice is yours...

you can get a remote starter for a manual tranny car...
you just have to do rituals on some of them before you get out of the car. i think on some you have to have it running under the remote starter control (like pitstop mode...) and have the ebrake up, then get out and lock the doors and turn the engine off with the remote starter. that way there is no way you left it in gear.....

depends on what brand you get.... from 5 minutes to 5 hours... you can set it to run however long you want.

i have a compustar alarm, and its manual as well
in order for you to enable auto start you hvae to put hyour car in reservation mode, and to do that like he said above, you have to stop the car, put the hand brake up, you'll hear a click and once that's done, you take the key out, but the car will stay running until the last door closes. once done, the car will arm itself and your in reservatoin mode, ready to auto start the car. so its near imposible to start the car ing ear, because if you were to try to set it in reservation mode you woul dhave to leave your foot on the clutch and put it in gear, and if you take out the key, and let go of yoru foot, boomm, you just stalled it. so that's the compustar way, other alarms may be different pending on manufacturer,

hope that helps.

Haha when i bought my car it came with one of those alarms, one of my friends was messing with the remote and started the car . Good thing was that i always use the ebrake so the car didnt go any where. So yea you gotta be careful with it on manual cars.
