Default ODB2 to ODB1 Conversion

Will an ODB2 to ODB1 Conversion yield any horsepower gains? I've heard a few things, but no one actually seems to know someone else that has done this personally and noticed a power gain.

Nope. Its just that OBDI takes better to Mods, and is easier to work with.

It's OBD, not ODB. You talking about Old Dirty Bastard here? Anyways, OBD1 is better, because it less restricted, and can yield out more hp for each mod.

heheheh, yeah I know...I just caught that. I have Wu Tang in the head so ODB flows better when typing the OBD...

So, in reality w/my mods of an Extrude Honed Intake Manifold, short-dick ram air, underdrive pulleys, & a header w/a straight pipe - Would it be worth it to do an OBD2 to 1 conversion?

Its not on the car, and neither is the extrude honed manifold, so no...but I'm sure when I slap it on it will throw a CEL...

I'll trade your GS-R for mine, then you can have On Board Diagnostic I

Converting to OBD-I in and of itself won't really help you. If you want to run a modified ECU it helps a lot. Or you could just get a V-AFC and mess with the fuel curve yourself.

Why waste your money to get the harness, just to convert it to a OBD1. Just get your ECU modified, or just buy a after-market ECU.

Could you have your OBD2 modified to OBD1 specs? I ask b/c I plan on converting to OBD1 for Hondata. DOES ANYONE HAVE A WIRING DIAGRAM OF THE HARNESS? I'd love to save $250 and make it myself

If you are going to run your test pipe then you will throw a CEL/code on your OBD2... won't be a problem on your OBD1 since it doens't have/use an O2 sensor in your CAT. So that part would definatly be worthwhile it seems

The reason for the wiring adapter is so you dont have to mess with your stock wiring. Plus if you knew how to wire your car directly to OBDI (which you cant unless you change the plugs), you would just make a harness converter yourself. If your going to be doing extensive mods, and a reprogrammed ecu is in your future, then it is worth your money.

I understand all that, and the reason for swapping to an OBD1 is b/c of future plans of getting the Hondata reprogrammed ECU. As everyone knows, you can only reprogram an OBD1 for Hondata... worded weird, but you know what I mean.

I am looking for a diagram of a OBD2 to OBD1 harness so I can make it myself and save some money. It's just a matter of busting out the soldering station and a schematic. All I should need would be a couple of plugs to use with the OBD1 and OBd2's existing plug... kinda like putting in a stereo... just more plugs to adapt. so does anyone have a diagram or maybe take a nice BIG picture our your harness so I can see where all your wires are?
