This is a question for a friend actually that I could not answer. He bought a crx w/ a b16 swap already put in. The only thing is when he bought it, it had a pr4 ecu not a pr3 or pw0. The main question is that he is buying a pr3 ecu and if the previous owner did not hook the harness up correctly could it damage the ecu? Is there anyway I can tell it is the correct wires w/vtec? His car also idles at like 1500 rpms, and gets really poor gas milage. I think it is attributed to being the wrong ecu? just wondering if that ecu causes the idle and gas problems. thx for all the help guys! peace..
wrong ecu. some guy posted a great article on idle problems. get the right ecu. maybe because the pr4 is the LS ecu and not meant for a 1.6 vtec'ed. i *doubt* it would mess up the ecu. one thing i would do is reset it and let it run a little while the new ecu is plugged in. as far as the idle, change the ecu, see how it idles then, if it idles like *** refer to the articles (search). pr3 is the jdm b16 ecu. and a pw0 is also a jdm b16 or jdm b18c ecu. like i said, replace the ecu and see how it idles then.
