Default Who has consistantly taken an H23 bottom end to around 7800?

Im researching as much as I can about the H23 block before I decide on whether or not to go H23 VTEC. Ive heard several people say that they have had no problems spinning the H23 (stock head and H22) to 7800 and than again, I have heard just as many say the exact oposite. If I do decide to go H23 VTEC the motor will never see light above 7800. I know there are a few guys running semi built all H23 set ups on this board so I just wanted to get some feedback on the rev reliability and capabilities of the H23 block.

Please dont reply with the "search" BS. I did search and there wasnt enough info on this particular subject.

Why do you want to rev your car that high?? I think you need to do your own research to prove to yourself that the higher your rev your car does NOT mean you will make power.

Jesus, why the hell does everyone want to rev the shyt out of their cars??? You are just messing up the motor. Why do you think you see all these spun bearing posts, or floating valves??

I guess I should be glad. I makes it easier to sell my parts when guys blow their engines.

I would reccomend against it on a stock bottom end. The H23 rods are not strong enough. They strech and the piston will kiss the head.

I'm using crower rods on mine and it still won't rev past 7800. Cheap insurance I say.

Im going to possibly be building the block for a Boosted H23 VTEC motor, thats why I want to take it to 7800. For an H23 VTEC motor 7800 is pretty moderate IMO. I just wanted to see if people out there have been in that range with their H23 blocks on a consistant basis with out any major issues.

Iron Sleeves, Ross 10.0:1 Pistons, Probe H23 rods, Crio treated, micro polished and balanced crank, line honed mains, ACL bearings, Pro Drive oil pump gear.

The block wont be stock by any means

Then go for it. You'll be fine!

The weak link is the rods (up to about 8k RPMs). Once you go over 8k, the weak link becomes the crankshaft itself.

I wouldn't really say that the rods are the weakest link; I would say that the crankshaft and bottom end assembly is.

But I'm not going to spell it all out for you; it has been covered before. Search for my thread on H22/H23 crankshafts for my opinion, otherwise head over to the Official H23 VTEC thread and start reading.
