Sorry if this topic has been beaten to death already, I already did a search and came up on a lot of useful info but no polls. Just wanna spread some info about encountered theivings among users for more insight on what measures are needed for the protection of my new teg. Info on Alarms, hood locks, kill swithches, autolock, shatterproof glass, etc. is welcome.....THANX
type "stolen" and search specifically in the Type-R forum.
Integras get broken into and stolen a lot. If you follow these message boards you will see atleast one "my integra was stolen" thread every day on average.
One of the simplest ways to make your car harder to steal is to disable power doorlocks. This really doesn't do much for a determined thief but it will deter some jackass kid who just wants to dick around inside your car to see if there's anything to steal.

if you even touch the lock on my **** it sets off the alarm and re-locks the car
I did have someone break into my crx once though..tried to get the stereo...didn't...looked in the back for amp and sub... nothing there either...took some shitass burned cd's...and my ******* ASHTRAY %^#^#%..that's what pissed me off the most. It was the ONE week the alarm was disabled. don't ever leave your faceplate in..even for once...for 20 minutes...and don't ever leave your alarm off in the name of convenience.

Autolocks are no better than "the club". I had my rex stolen with an autolock on it and alarm with one kill switch. I'd recommend the Multi-lock transmission lock installed professionally along with a clifford solaris alarm with dual kill switches, and a chapman hood lock with kill switch. Anything else is a waste of money and false sense of security. The Multi-Lock transmission lock will run you about $250 installed, and the Clifford Solaris will run you $600 installed. The chapman hood lock with kill switch will run you anywhere from $150 to $275 installed. Overall $1000 worth of security is small price to pay. Don't expect $50 to $100 bucks at autozone to deter thieves. they're tools made for Repo men that take off autolocks and clubs 1-2-3.
I copy and pasted this from another thread I wrote it in. Hope it helps, and yes they're is lots of information of this sort on HT, which a good search will bring up.

not too much can stop someone from breaking out your window....lucky for me, i think the theives were stupid and didnt know what they had. i have also had some shady characters walk by my car and look in it and circle around to look again, i just wanted them to lay a hand on it so i could take off their head
all i have is a crappy alarm and a vehicle demmobilizer

I feel sorry for you guys who live in shitty cities. Move to Wisconsin
although you can only drive your car 5 months out of the year you dont have to worry about car theft. Hell, I let my car idle unlocked while unattended for 5-10 minutes at a time and i have never had anything stolen. :knocks on wood:

Im pretty sure that most every theft deturant has been spilled on this site more than once. Ive had belongings yanked, components yanked, cars stolen. My advice to all. Keep your stuff on the downlow, with kills and a garage to hide your babies & works of art in.

I'd gladly pay the actual value of the car twice over...ON TOP of having to buy the car itself....just to have it talk and do cool **** like the knight rider car.
How 'bout shatterproof glass?? I have seen this stuff in action before and it REALLY works. Stood up to a metal trash can and crow bar. Havent heard it mentioned through an hour of searching the alarm topic. If they can't break the window they can't jack **** easily, or am I missing something??
I've heard of shatterproof glass aswell. I saw on news once them talking about a tint that will act like your front windsheild and make it very hard to break the window out. Only problem is, if you ever need that window to break out you're SOL. Never seen it in real life and I've searched for it too.

ummmm.....yeah it sure does. I don't know about stopping the window breaking, but the car isn't going anywhere too quickly. Windows can be replaces easier than cars. For the price of getting shatter proof windows, you might as well wait for someone to actually break your window then replace it with a stock window......you'll still be spending less.

as accurate as any internet anonymous forum can be, how do you care to factor in the percentage of those who dont read the integra forum anymore?
If you dont mind the inquiry, what's the point of the poll?

waste of money. lets analyze this more closely instead of throwing money at it.
1. theft of car
-answer: keep engine from starting, keep wheels from rolling. many methods are available, most of which includes what you mentioned above.
-remaining problem: towing.
2. theft of interior accessories
-answer: dont let them in easily. lock/bolt items down. remove items. hide items.
bottom line: all theft deterrants work, however non are foolproof. what do they do then? they TAKE TIME, valuable time from the thieves. how much time do you want to take away from their mission, and how much do you want to pay per second of that time? use your imagination.
is your car worth towing?

what a stupid topic, it all depends where you live, obviously if you live in the blocks your gonna be more **** to have your car stolen or in a bad city, where i am it's rare to have a car stolen, maybe broken into but that's everywhere, get a good alarm with SENSORS, or get a steering wheel that's removable , IF THERE's NO STEERING WHEEL, how will they steal it!!!! Unless they tow it which i don't think happens often, but then again it's possible.
You dont have to break a window on an integra to steal it. They are very easy to break in. I just recently had my civic stolen....they just bent the top of the frame on the window and pulled the window out just enough to stick a wire in the car and pull the lock open. Of course I didnt have an alarm on the car cause it's a piece of ****.....but they stole it anyways cause it was a civic with an exhaust.
There's no real way of stopping your car from getting stolen. If a thief wants your car badly enough they can get it no matter what.....
